If all the courses below are fully booked or the dates don’t suit you, please email us and we will let you know as soon as any others are arranged or see when else you can come
In addition to the courses that are arranged to order (ie on days requested by customers, for which there is a minimum charge of £90 per half day session to cover either 1 or 2 people) and the 5 day courses, we have now put some courses on specific dates to which you can come by yourself (or with a friend) and join in with up to a maximum of 4 people per course (to ensure plenty of individual attention).
You can either come for the morning or come for the whole day. The format will be as follows:
Morning – 9:30 till 12 – introduction to throwing
Afternoon – 1 till 3:30 – continuation of morning’s throwing as well as other ceramic techniques
Sometimes, we run afternoon only half day sessions.
The throwing will cover the basis techniques of centre-ing, opening out and pulling up the walls culminating in making your own bowl on the wheel and maybe more, depending on how you get on.
The cost is £90 per half day session for two people to include 4 pots between you which will be fired & glazed and can be picked up at a later date. (If you have a pottery voucher, you can use it for 2 people.) A session cannot run unless there is a minimum of 2 people booked on it together on it (to make it viable.) (Unless you wish to pay the individual tuition rate which again is £90 per half day session.)
NB if fully booked or none of the days suit or you are looking at dates in the future, please do email us so we can add some more courses or try to agree a suitable date for you.
(We can only teach Saturday afternoons at weekends and these normally get booked up weeks in advance.)
Update July 2020
We did re-opened our doors to pottery students with a revised protocol to adhere to Covid 19 social distancing guidelines including the teacher wearing masks and gloves and the students wearing masks but not gloves as they need to develop a sense of the clay. Classes are limited to 1 teacher and 2 students. (Up to 4 students are only permitted if they are from 1 household.) Priority will be given to existing voucher holders.
Update January 2021
Obviously, we are unable to teach in either lockdown or when in Tier 3. As pottery courses are not specifically mentioned in government guidelines, we are taking our cue from hairdresser guidelines due to the need for close working. Basically, if you can have a haircut in your area and you can travel to our area (North Yorkshire) for a haircut, we should be able to teach you!
(We can only teach Saturday afternoons at weekends and these normally get booked up months in advance so we can’t offer these out currently as we need to save the slots that are left for existing voucher holders.)
